We have found a program called HijackThis, from Trend Micro, can be helpful in identifying whether or not your (Windows) computer has a some kind of 'unhelp' program running on it.  We have found it very useful over a number of years and rights to it have recently been bought by Trend.

The concepts that are used in operating it can be confusing, but following the instructions and using a search engine to investigate the names on the log that it produces can save you money.

As always though, ensure that your antivirus package is up-to-date.  We specifically recommend upgrading your internet protection (Antivirus) package itself when the subscription expires, not just the subscription, because the virus detection methods are updated too.
