We care passionately about promoting what we consider best practice or product. We love Open Source software not because it's free but the fact that we can work out what is going wrong when it goes wrong. There are proper audit trails and mostly the data is held in plain text files.
Sometimes though, in our view, there is little to chose between the propriety or the Open Source product. We do what every decent company should do and stay well away from ideology.
In our view the decision between OpenOffice and Microsoft Office suites is marginal today. OpenOffice has done a fantastic job from nothing in a couple of years. Microsoft Office 2007 is actually version 12; the current version of OpenOffice is numbered 2.4.
Please download the suite from OpenOffice.org - you will like it, especially if Office 2007's ribbon bar is a bit radical; but don't think we won't support you if ribbons are your thing.
Like you we just want to get the job done.
