We have been getting reports that a number of Harpenden Exchange connected customers are having intermittent broadband issues. Apparently this is not restricted to customers for whom we are their broadband supplier; but this is anecdotal evidence and unconfirmed.
We will not monitor your Broadband connection with the intention to be able to use that data for marketing purposes. There are many other Broadband providers and Broadband users who feel the same way.
Many thousands of Broadband users (not with us) should expect to be invited to have their connection watched from today in a trial. Should the trial be successfui it is expected that over 70% of Broadband connections will be subject to the deepest monitoring yet of your Internet activity.
I was thinking about Open Source software, specifically why we stick with exclusively Windows or Apple based desktop solutions and assume that a solution of the same name is the best choice for the file server or mail server.
It's because when we're not familiar with something, we tend to err on the side of caution. Quite natural and not to be berated.
Unfortunately there was a short failure in one of the core routers this morning at about 9:40am. Service was restored some twenty minutes later at 10am. There are some clients which are in an undefined state. We have asked BT to reset their connections. Many apologies for any inconvenience caused. The causes for the failure are being investigated.
