Serious security flaw found in IE

According to the BBC website story and a few other pages there is a serious security flaw within Microsoft's built-in Internet Explorer.

Now might be a good time to try the alternatives, especially Firefox (sometimes called Iceweasel).  It's Open Source so you have the certainty of knowing that more than just one group of individuals have inspected the code and are looking for issues.

UK pre-Budget Report (PBR) 2009 measures

As you will have gathered from the Chancellors PBR 2009 of 24th November 2008, there are some changes to the Value Added Tax rate taking effect on the 1 December 2008 through 31 December 2009:   The rate will be reduced to 15% from 17.5% for that period.

Advisory notice for BT Broadband customers

Statement of intent:

We will not monitor your Broadband connection with the intention to be able to use that data for marketing purposes.  There are many other Broadband providers and Broadband users who feel the same way.

Many thousands of Broadband users (not with us) should expect to be invited to have their connection watched from today in a trial.  Should the trial be successfui it is expected that over 70% of Broadband connections will be subject to the deepest monitoring yet of your Internet activity.
